Letter of Authorization from Industry Canada

The VO1A callsign was the very first issued following the Berne Confrence of 1934, which allowed more flexibility,
and Newfoundland move to a VO1 through VO6 system of prefixes. This call was issued to Newfoundlands very first radio amateur,
Mr. Ernest Ash. He was first licenced Jan. 3, 1923 as 8AA with licence #1 from the dept. of Post & Telegraphs of Newfoundland
Several year later, after his passing, some of his homebrewed gear was donated to the museum at Hr. Grace. Members of the
Baccalieu Amateur Radio Klub decided that it would be fitting to obtain the VO1A callsign for use at the museum, and the journey began.
From 1994 to 1999, the club use annual approvals for the callsign, and in June 2000, we were issued the perpetual approval pictured below.
